About Me

Did you know...?

Katherine Lindfors is a writer, editor, and graduate student focusing on American Literature. She holds a B.S. in Mass Communications with a concentration in Public Relations, and her work bridges academic inquiry, creative reflection, and cultural commentary.

She is the creator of The Other Collective, a personal blog and ongoing series of lifestyle writings that explore what it means to live outside the margins of traditional expectations. Unmarried, child-free by choice, feminist, humanitarian, and deeply committed to education, Lindfors uses the platform to tell her story with honesty, humor, and insight. The Other Collective is not a declaration of being “different for the sake of it,” but a space for self-exploration and truth-telling.

Lindfors is a two-year survivor of Hodgkin’s lymphoma. Her cancer diagnosis in 2022 marked a turning point in an already complex life shaped by childhood poverty and abuse. She left her teaching career during recovery, regrew her sense of self along with her hair, and committed to building a life she could be proud of. Her writing is informed by this journey—by grief, resilience, and deep gratitude for life’s second chances.

She has contributed to The Odyssey, Her Campus, and Barton College’s The Collegiate, where she also served as Editor. Her interests span American literature, history, art, language, and travel, often filtered through a thoughtful lens on what it means to be a citizen, a storyteller, and a woman in a country she both critiques and calls home.

Lindfors writes for those navigating the edges. This place is for anyone who’s been labeled “other” and is still learning to love that descriptor. Through her work, she hopes to foster connection, vulnerability, and self-acceptance.
